Utah --> Georgia

Moving from Utah to Georgia in one little car? Challenge accepted!

We got back from our honeymoon, packed up our stuff and said our goodbyes Sunday-Tuesday, and began our drive across the country Wednesday morning!

We didn’t get very far (3 hours) when Connor said the gas pedal wouldn’t work. At that time we had just got to the top of a hill so we were able to coast down the hill and get off last exit before there was nothing for probably another 45 minutes. Seriously, we were blessed. We spent a couple hours trying to figure it out and driving about 20 mph around town looking for help. The first 2 auto-shops Google took us to were non-existent, and the third guy told us it was our transmission but said he couldn’t help us out for at least a week. He did give us a phonebook, which led us to find the Nissan Dealership on the other side of town, though!
The dealership did some tests and confirmed it was the transmission but unfortunately, couldn’t get a new transmission in for another week. We had to be checked into our apartment by the weekend because Connor started his job on Monday and we had to be there to accept the furniture on Friday. We didn’t know what to do, besides just laugh.
Long story short; Connor’s dad and brother drove Connor’s car out to us and turned around and drove home that same night! (6 hours of driving!) AND THEN, Connor’s dad drove back out to Wyoming a week later to pick up my car and drive it back to Utah! Seriously so grateful for him!
Connor and I stayed the night in Wyoming and started back on our drive to Georgia in the morning...

From Wyoming we made it to Omaha, Nebraska, and stayed the night. From Omaha we drove to Nauvoo, Illinois, stopped for a couple hours (next post will have more info), and continued driving for as long as we could since we were behind schedule. This night of driving was SO crazy! We definitely experienced our first southern storm. The thunder, lightening and rain were out of control! I think my car breaking down was a huge blessing in disguise, because my car doesn’t handle rain well at all.

Around midnight we were both too tired to drive anymore, so we stopped in a little town and called it a night.
Waking up at 8:00 the next morning was sooooo hard. We were just beyond exhausted... and ornery, haha.

 We stopped in Nashville, Tennessee for like 20 minutes, but decided we really didn’t want to stop driving- we just wanted to get there, so we kept going... and FINALLY made it to our new home in Atlanta (Dunwoody), Georgia! Just one day late. :)

It may have been rough road, but getting here felt like running through the finish line of a marathon! We're so grateful for our safety, and especially for the help we received from Connor's dad and brother. We wouldn't have made it here without them. :)
