Nauvoo, IL is a small little town that for some reason holds a huge place in my heart!
Since Connor and I met, I've always told him how bad I wanted to go back to Nauvoo and visit. My family lived there for a few months when I was little while my dad was working on the rebuilding of the Nauvoo Temple. For being as young as I was, I can still remember so much about living in Nauvoo and I've been dying to go back... So you can imagine my excitement a few months ago when Connor told me we could take a detour to Atlanta and stop in Nauvoo!
It ended up only being a 3-hour (plus 2 hour there) detour, and well worth it. :) Although I wish we could have stayed longer, it was incredible!
The town was a lot smaller than I remember, but I could still remember where everything was;
the temple,
the Visitor's Center,
the house we lived in,
the gas station,
places Gentry and I would ride
our bikes to play,
the store we went to get treats,
the store we went to get treats,
certain roads,
some restaurants we ate at,
and my favorite toy shop.
I don't think I stopped talking or telling Connor stories from the time we saw the Illinois sign, until about an hour after we left...
He's a trooper. :)
We also got to go to Carthage Jail! I remembered going here when I was younger, but it was much more interesting and humbling to me now that I can really comprehend what happened.

Nauvoo and Carthage Jail are both such spiritual places. If you haven't, you need to visit. :) I'm so thankful for the time I got to live there, and mostly for getting the opportunity to go back.
Being there with Connor made it better than I ever anticipated. :)
