(1)Georgia, (2)Alabama, (3)Mississippi, (4)Tennessee, (5)Arkansas, (6)Missouri, (7)Oklahoma, (8)Kansas, (9)Colorado, (10)Utah, (11)Nevada, (12)Arizona, and finally...
(13)California!
(plus (14)Wyoming, (15)Nebraska, (16)Iowa, (17)Illinois and (18)Kentucky going TO Georgia and (19)Florida while we were in GA)
We decided to make our drive from GA to UT a fun, memorable one! So we stopped at all the Universities that we could along the route.
On January 23rd, we had our rental furniture picked up (bed, couches, dresser, night stand, couches), everything we had was all packed in bags, and we were ready to go. After we both got off work, our plan was to hit the road and get a couple of driving hours in so we could wake up the next day and already be on the road.
Welllllll, at 2:00 we find out that Connor has a conference call on Monday that he had to be at!! SO, luckily, The Lackey's (family I nannied for) let us stay in their extra bedroom for the weekend since our furniture was gone (they're lifesavers!). They also invited us down to a conference they were at so we got to enjoy the real downtown night-life of Atlanta that we hadn't had the chance to experience. It was a fun weekend, and when Monday rolled around, we went back to our apartment, packed our stuff up into the car (yes, it all fit! minus a few things we threw away), and Connor was getting ready to go in for the conference call.
But long story short... guess what? It ended up getting canceled! LOL -- just our luck.
Now looking back, I'm actually extremely grateful that we ended up staying that weekend. We got to spend more time with the Lackey's, and during that weekend, we truly got to experience Atlanta and we left there with so much love and happiness.
Now, onto our fun adventure!
Day #1) -Atlanta, Georgia to Columbus, Mississippi
I cried the entire way to Columbus because I was so sad to leave the Lackey family. :( We made our first University stop this night at The University of Alabama... WOW this campus was amazing! I'm jealous of all the students who go there. We stopped in a little town in Mississippi called Columbus - it took us about 4 hours to get there from ATL.

Day #2) -Columbus, Mississippi to Fayetteville, Arkansas
We went to Friendship Cemetery where soldiers that fought in the Civil War were buried. From there we drove to Missippi State University then to University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). We drove through Tennessee and stopped in Memphis for some BBQ, saw trained DUCKS walking a red carpet at a hotel (LOL), and to see Elvis's stomping grounds :) then up to Fayette, AK near Arkansas University where we stayed the night.

Day #3) -Fayetteville, Arkansas to Denver, Colorado
As we drove from AK to Missouri I saw on the GPS that we were JUST missing driving through Oklahoma by like 2 miles, so we took the next exit and drove a couple miles in to Oklahoma - just to add one more state to our list ;) LOL. Once we got back on route after "going through" Oklahoma, we stopped at Missouri University, and Wichita State University (tiny campus!). After Kansas, we drove late into the night to stop in Denver, Colorado. Almost home!

Day #4) Denver, Colorado to Salt Lake City, Utah
Driving around Denver was super cool for me! I didn't realize how big of a city Denver was - I really liked it. We drove by The CO Rockies field, the Bronco's Stadium, and also stopped at Red Rocks Amphitheater. After exploring Denver, we drove to Arches Nation Park, stop and did a high to see the beautiful arch, then went straight on home to SLC!

After exploring Arkansas University's campus, we drove to Bentonville, AK where WALMART'S HEADQUARTERS ARE! And to Walton's - Sam Walton's FIRST "Walmart" (they have amazing ice cream BTW :)). What started as a little candy/joke shop, is now the best store on earth :) I love Walmart.

We stayed home for a couple days, got to see family, friends, etc. and then took off for 11 more hours to CA. Obviously along the route we go through Nevada and Arizona, so we got to add two more states to our moving excursion. :)
We finally got to IRVINE, CA where we moved in with Connor's great-aunt and uncle for a couple weeks (bless them for letting us live there - they're the best!) while we found our own place. :)
So throughout our trip moving to and from GA we visited; UT, WY, NE, IA, IL, KY, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, AK, OK, MO, KS, CO, UT, NV, AZ, annnnnnnd finally CA.
What a crazy first 6 months of marriage ;D
